Product samples – Gasoline

C 3-C 10 (PIANO gasoline-range distribution) by High Resolution GC/FID (Qualitative) or EPA 8260 Modified (Quantitative)

Identifies over 90 compounds (qualitative) or 120 compounds (quantitative, including EDB and EDC) in the gasoline range. Data are reported as relative percent (qualitative) or concentration (quantitative) for comparing compositional similarities between samples. Degradation ratios provide information on age of product.

Oxygenated Blending Agents MtBE, DIPE, EtBE, tAME, tBA, ethanol by EPA 1625 Modified.

Quantifies oxygenated additives in gasoline. Data can provide information on age of unleaded gasoline.

EDB, MMT, and Organic Lead Concentrations by GC/ECD

Quantifies the five alkyl lead compounds added to gasoline as well as the lead scavenger, edb. Provides information on age of leaded gasoline.

Stable Isotopes of Carbon & Hydrogen

Provides information regarding source relationships between samples in addition to the geographical origin of the crude oil used in the refining process.

C 3-C 10 (gasoline-range hydrocarbons) by High Resolution GC/MS

Identifies over 120 compounds in the gasoline range including EDB and EDC. Data are reported as concentrations for comparing compositional similarities between samples. Degradation ratios provide information on the age of the gasoline.

C 8-C 40 Full Scan GC/MS

Provides a detailed characterization of petroleum products by utilizing the distribution of alkanes, alkylbenzenes, PAHs (PNAs) and polycyclic biomarkers. Degree of degradation provides information on the age of a product.

Simulated Distillation by ASTM D2887

Helps determine amounts of different fuel types present in a product sample. Artificial mixtures are analyzed under consistent conditions to confirm the estimated composition.

Parent and Alkylated PAH Concentrations by EPA 8270 Mod

Helps to distinguish petroleum products from pyrogenic products such as creosote and Manufactured Gas Plant residues. Useful for risk based assessments at sites where PAHs are an issue.

Petroleum Biomarker Analysis by EPA 8270 Mod (Qualitative and Quantitative)

Provides fingerprint distributions (qualitative) and concentrations (quantitative) of sterane and terpane biomarkers. Helps to identify the source of heavy oils and crude oils.

C 8-C 40 Alkane Analysis by EPA 8270 Mod (Qualitative and Quantitative)

Provides fingerprint distributions (qualitative) and concentrations (quantitative) of n-alkanes and isoalkanes. Helps to identify relatively undegraded petroleum products and provides information on their age.
