INDOOR AIR QUALITY ANALYSIS

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Microbial Testing is utilized to determine bacteria and fungi organisms and their concentrations in the indoor environment. IAQ testing is often used after water damage has occurred and to validate if remediation has been effective.

IAQ is provided through Pace Analytical® Aerobiology, through seven lab locations accredited by AIHA-LAP, LLC in the environmental microbiology testing (EMLAP) program. These analyses includes bacterial and fungal cultures, counts and identification and speciation in air, surface, water and bulk samples in addition to non-viable spore traps and direct microscopic examination of surfaces and bulk samples.

Pace Aerobiology offers a wide array of Healthcare Testing Profiles to help facilities assess the microbial bioburden in the patient’s environments and to track target pathogens. These profiles include clinical fungi, pathogenic thermophilic fungi, Carbapene-Resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE), Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA), Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococci, Nontuberculous Mycobacteria (NTM), and other emerging pathogens such as Acinetobacter, Klebsiella and Candida auris.

Pace Aerobiology also offers sampling supplies for purchase and equipment rental through our AeroStore.

ENVIRONMENTAL TESTING

Non-culturable analyses are done by direct microscopic examination of air swabs, tapes or bulk material. This allows for complete characterization of the fungal spores, fruiting structures, hyphal elements and other fungal fragments in addition to pollen grains, elevated levels of bacteria, and identification of select non-biological materials. This total fungal characterization allows identification of fungi that may be both viable upon culture and those that would not be viable upon culture. The advantages of direct reads are that it can be performed quickly, it is useful as a general screening tool, and as an assessment tool for post-verification.
