Waltz Mill Radiochemistry Lab

History

The Pace Analytical Waltz Mill Radiochemistry Laboratory located near Pittsburgh, PA has been in operation since the early 1960's. Originally operated by Westinghouse Electric Company, the facility is located within their Waltz Mill Nuclear Systems site. In December 1996, Westinghouse passed the operational responsibility of the laboratory to Antech, Ltd. who managed the facility for the next six years. In September, 2002, the laboratory was sold to Pace Analytical Services, Inc. The 8,000 square foot facility provides identification and measurement of radioactive isotopes present in various sample media. The laboratory's capabilities also include measurement of elements and ions commonly associated with the nuclear power and nuclear services industries.
